We needed to kill some time before our dinner reservation, so we decided to check out Boulder, Colorado’s, Pearl Street Mall.

Pearl Street Mall has an interesting mash-up of bohemian artsy, clever intellectual and rugged adventurer.

There are a lot of bookstores on Pearl Street, so many in fact, and I can’t believe I am saying this, but after perusing the first three, I was a little bookstored out.

The walk is closed off to traffic, and the design is lovely with trees and art work on display.

I was completely fascinated by an artist who was using leaves and flower petals to create a picture on a large wet stone.

It also was the perfect venue for buskers to show off their talents.

Every section has some type of play area for kids with lots of surrounding benches for grown-ups to take a rest.

We spotted a shave ice stand and suddenly had a craving. One of the bonuses to being an adult, is that you can have ice cream, and if you want a shave ice only an hour later, even though you are close to dinnertime, there’s no one to say no.

I had no expectations for Pearl Street Mall, and ended up loving the vibe. It was clean, relaxing, and there was no pressure to buy anything, so it’s a nice, free activity to do if you have a few free hours to kill in Boulder, Colorado.
