Christmastime at Animal Kingdom

I love Animal Kingdom. Though I haven’t been to Africa or Asia yet (it’s on the list) Animal Kingdom is the park that convinces me the most, just for a few moments, that I could be somewhere else in the world, and not in a theme park.

There’s peacefulness in the surroundings, even among the hustle and bustle of a busy park day.

I know most people complain about the park because it can get rather steamy, but I’m girl who likes her steam, so it doesn’t bother me.

If you are feeling steamy, and are of age, I highly recommend the Coconut-Lychee Lemonade at Drinks Wallah.

It’s comprised of coconut rum, lychee, and lemonade. It’s refreshing and delicious.

We’ve passed by Drinks Wallah on previous trips without even a glance, so we have to thank our traveling companion Lenny, for first trying, and then introducing us to the wonders of Lychee Lemonade.

Out of the four parks at Disney World, Animal Kingdom is the least Christmas-y. The decorations they did have were some of my favorite of the trip.

Many had the feel of someone taking the ordinary items available to them and fashioning those items into festive adornments.

Not as understated, was Santasaurus. I saw a picture of Santasaurus a week before our trip, and being a lover of dinosaurs, I kept a sharp eye out. I was so excited when we finally stumbled upon him. I’ll make sure to leave an antelope carcass out next Christmas Eve in anticipation of Santasaurus’ visit.

Like all of the parks, Animal Kingdom has their own giant tree. Being a fan of all things animal, I approved of their tree ornaments.

In some ways it’s nice to get away from the Christmas overload while visiting Animal Kingdom, and in some ways, you sort of wish that there was maybe just a touch more Christmas. That being said I’m happy they keep things respectable, and there are no ornaments hanging off of the giraffes’ antlers or Santa hat wearing flamingos.
